Rest In Peace
We put Squeak to sleep today around 5:30 in the afternoon. His biopsy came back positive for lymphoma. Even with treatment, he had at most a month to live.
We sat with him for two hours while we agonized over what to do. He was in fine spirits today, but it was really because of all the force-feeding and medication they had been giving to him. We could have taken him home and continued to give him sustaining care, but it only would’ve prolonged the inevitable.
Today has been one of the hardest days of my life. I know that we did the right thing but it doesn’t make it any easier.
We just got back from burying him at our new house that we haven’t even moved into yet. We put him out in the side yard so that we can see him every morning when we wake up and every night before we go to bed. Just like always. We buried him wrapped in towels in a shoe box, along with a great picture of him and Ashley and I from this past fall, some carrots for the road, and his Christmas stocking.
I was a bit sheepish about this yesterday but I can’t be any more. I don’t know that I’ve ever been sadder about anything in my entire life. Today was just awful.
Rest in peace, Squeaker. I’m so sorry that we couldn’t save you. I know that you’re in a better place now. We will always love you.

There’s no shame in loving a member of your family, and that’s what a pet is.
We’re thinking of you guys.
Rest in peace, Squeak. Hope you and Ashley are doing okay. Let us know if you need anything.
Man, I’m sorry to hear that. Hope you’re finding peace, too. A pet IS family and it always hurts when they go.
I’ll tip a bottle of carrot juice in respect for the little guy.
RIP, Squeak. I’ll always remember your fun spirit, especially when that Snapple commercial comes on with the guinea pigs as the running of the bulls in Spain. Run on man.
Jamie and Ashley–Squeak was very sweet and loving. A pet is definitely family. My prayers are with you. Call me if you need to chat. Love, Katie
Squeak’s now setting up his next big game plan with Vince L and Bear Bryant. I think he’s planning to use Knute Rockne as his starter…
Sorry to hear about Squeak. Take care.
