Spam Losers

Well, the spammer assholes have finally found the blizzog.  I’m now spending about 10 minutes each morning wiping penis pill, diet drug, and online poker adds off various comment pages.  It’s super fun.  I put spammers somewhere just below pedophiles and wife-beaters in my hierarchy of degenerates (soon to be available in paperback, btw).

Now I’m going to have to spend some time this weekend re-vamping my code to help mitigate some of this.  Thanks, losers.  Luckily Google, MSN, Yahoo, and some popular bloggers have banded together to give us a little help.  If you maintain the code to your blog like I do, you’ll probably be interested in this new rel=”nofollow” attribute.  In a nutshell, you add it to any link tags appearing in your comments section and it tells the search engines to not count the link in it’s page rank algorithms.

In theory, this is supposed to remove the economic incentive for the comment spammers, though I have my doubts that it will have much effect.  I think I’m going to have to put one of those image generator chumpees on my comment form to keep this from happening.  Look for a new blizzog release in the near future.

Besides, those penis pills don’t work anyway….errr, uh….at least that’s what I read.
